Career Description
As a Web Developer you have many avenues to choose from to develop the career you want. Internet-related careers are divided into three areas: creative, technical and business-related. You may choose to explore all three areas or specialize in any one or any combination of them. The creative area includes web development, which encompasses web page design, basic programming and editing skills, web site functions such as database handling and more. With technical career opportunities you will work more toward the infrastructure of the Internet and involve technical support for users within a corporation or business. In choosing to focus on the business end of Internet-related careers you will utilize sales and marketing skills in business to business environments, dot-coms and specialized services.
Nationally, Web Developers are earning Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certifications. This certification documents one's skill in web design. GateWay Community College offers the CIW authorized training program.

In Arizona, Web Developer positions are expected to increase 20% or more in the next 10 years. Web Developers earn an average of $12.85 and $47.22 an hour for an average salary of $26,728 to $98,218.
